Daughter of Lord Lucan gives birth to baby boy

LORD Lucan’s daughter has announced the birth of the missing aristocrat’s only grandchild in her first interview since his disappearance 28 years ago.

Lady Camilla Bloch, Lucan’s youngest daughter, gave birth to Cameron last month.

"Lucky" Lucan vanished after bludgeoning nanny Sandra Rivett to death in 1974. He is believed to have mistaken Rivett for his wife.

His blood-soaked car was later found abandoned and there have been no confirmed sightings of him since.

Asked how she would describe her father to Cameron, Bloch, who was only three at the time of the murder, said: "I’ll tell Cameron that his grandfather was tall, dark and handsome - a professional gambler who loved powerboating and the Cresta Run in St Moritz."

Bloch added that she would not let what happened change the way her son is brought up.

"He will certainly have a nanny," she said.

The 31-year-old barrister said she believes her father is dead and has been able to put the past behind her.

Bloch explained: "The past has long been at rest, at least in my mind. It lives on in the public imagination, shifting between news, history and myth. It lives on, too, in the sense that the Scotland Yard file remains open."

She added that she no longer had any interest in discovering whether Lord Lucan was behind the killing or not.

"Any desire I may have had to ascertain the truth about the events of November 1974 has long since dwindled," she said.

"In any event, I am sure Daddy would have wanted me to get on with life and do it to the full. "

Bloch met her husband Michael, a QC, when they were working in the same law chambers. They married in 1998 and live in Hampstead, north London.
