Dance update for Elton’s early hits

SIR Elton John is to be given a dance overhaul as his back catalogue is revamped by an acclaimed electronic duo.

The superstar has given his blessing for his old songs to be reworked by Australian act Pnau, who have sampled early tracks and turned them into completely different tunes.

The duo have used up to nine of his tracks to feature on each of the songs – all dating from 1970 to 1976 – for their album Good Morning To The Night, to be released in June.

Sir Elton, who gave them access to his archive of songs, is also to play with the group - featuring Nick Littlemore, best known for his work as the Sleepy Jackson and Empire of the Sun. Sir Elton said of the project: “I am in awe of what they have done.”

Sir Elton released his first solo album, Empty Sky, in 1969. In the more than 40 years since then, he has had 25 Top 10 pop hits in the US.
