Cowell shows he has the X Factor with TV accolade

SIMON Cowell has been named the year's most talented entertainer on television.

The X Factor supremo beat competition from other stars, such as Ant and Dec, Martin Clunes and Jamie Oliver, to land the accolade from TV industry magazine Broadcast.

It said: "2009 ended with only one man controlling TV." Cowell's talent shows Britain's Got Talent and The X Factor dominated the year, with audiences that peaked at more than 19 million.

The magazine said: "Joe McElderry may have triumphed in the 2009 X Factor final, but there's no disputing who was the biggest winner."

Broadcast named 20 stars who featured not only in entertainment shows, but also drama, documentaries and comedy.
