Comeback plan for Bergerac

BBC detective series Bergerac could make a comeback more than 20 years after it was axed.

TV bosses are in the process of developing a possible new series featuring the Jersey-based investigator, although it has not yet been commissioned.

The original BBC1 series starred John Nettles for a decade until it ended in 1991. He later went on to take the lead role in ITV’s Midsomer Murders, although he has since left.

TV industry magazine Broadcast said any new series would be aimed at a younger audience, but would also hope to attract seasoned fans.

No script has been produced at this stage.
