Channel 4 chief got £700,000 pay deal

Channel 4 has defended paying its chief executive more than £700,000 last year.

David Abraham, who was appointed in May 2010, received a salary of £490,000, plus £88,000 in performance-related pay and pension benefits worth £123,000. Channel 4 chairman Lord Burns said the broadcaster was paying the correct salary in a competitive environment.
