Cameron and Blair trade insults

TONY Blair and David Cameron traded insults yesterday as the Tories stepped up their calls for the Prime Minister to bring forward his departure date.

The Tory leader condemned Mr Blair for behaving like a pop star while crises piled up during the farewell tour of his final seven weeks in office.

Mr Blair hit back by accusing Mr Cameron of "flailing around" to distract attention from Tory divisions, adding: "It's a little bit pathetic."

Mr Blair said there were issues to be dealt with before he leaves office on 27 June. But Mr Cameron said the extended hand-over was "becoming absurd".
