British soldier killed in Afghanistan

A SOLDIER was shot dead while on patrol in Afghanistan today – the second British serviceman killed in two days, the Ministry of Defence said.

The soldier, from A Company, 4th Battalion The Rifles, part of the 3 Rifles Battle Group, died near Sangin, in Helmand Province. His family has been told.

The MoD said he died as a result of "small arms fire".
