Boy dies after being hit by train

A 14-year-old boy has died after being hit by a train near a foot crossing.

British Transport Police were called to the scene in Lincoln at 8:51am yesterday.

East Midlands Ambulance Service also attended, and 
pronounced the teenager, who is from Lincoln, dead at the scene. A British Transport 
Police spokeswoman said the boy’s family had been informed, but formal identification had not yet taken place.

She said: “The incident is being treated as non-suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Police handed back the rail line to Network Rail at 9:50am, yesterday.
