Bee Gee Robin in hospital after new health scare

Bee Gees star Robin Gibb is being treated for an inflamed colon after being rushed to hospital with abdominal pains.

The singer, who has been admitted to hospital a number of times in recent months, was taken in for tests at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

The 61-year-old’s wife, Dwina, accompanied him.

In April, Gibb had to cancel a series of concerts in Brazil on the advice of doctors.

Gibb had been due to do a radio interview yesterday, but was forced to cancel it.

A spokesman confirmed yesterday that the Bee Gee was being treated “for inflammation of the colon”.

Last year he underwent surgery for a blocked intestine, the same condition which led to the death of his twin brother, Maurice, in 2003. He had part of his intestine removed after suffering pains while performing in Belgium. On his return to the UK, he went for tests and was told to prepare for emergency surgery.

With his group, which also included elder brother Barry, Gibb notched up decades of chart hits including their 1970s disco tracks such as Stayin’ Alive.
