Battersea Power Station redevelopment gets backing

London: Plans to redevelop Battersea Power Station have won the backing of the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment, it was announced today.

The proposed 5.5 billion project would see about 3,700 homes built alongside offices, shops and restaurants on the 40-acre site.

Birmingham: A city council rubber-stamped a savings plan which could lead to 2,000 job cuts.

The financial plan to save 69 million was approved by Birmingham City Council councillors at a five-hour meeting.

The council said it was striving to "do more for less".
