Andy Murray puts indyref tweet behind him
ANDY Murray will let his tennis do the talking this week as he makes his first competitive appearance on British soil since tweeting his support for Scottish independence.
Murray used Twitter to express his views early in the morning of polling day with the message: “Huge day for Scotland today! No campaign negativity last few days totally swayed my view on it. Excited to see the outcome. Let’s do this!”
The response in the Twittersphere was instant and for the most part vitriolic. But as he prepares for his opening match at the O2 Arena in London at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals – he plays Kei Nishikori tomorrow afternoon – Murray is hoping that both he and the British public can move on.

“I haven’t had an adverse reaction,” Murray said of his return to London.
“But the crowd has always given me very good support when I have played here and when I have played at Wimbledon and Queen’s throughout my whole career. I hope this week that is the same, but if not I will do my job and give my best ever, regardless. Hopefully I’ll win back some fans this week.”
