Ambulance talks over emergency breaks continue

NEGOTIATIONS resumed yesterday between unions and management at the Scottish Ambulance Service in a long-running dispute over staff breaks interrupted by emergency calls.

No resolution was achieved in the afternoon of talks, but unions plan to continue a dialogue in the next few days.

A proposal for a one-off payment of £1,500 and £100 for each time ambulance staff were called out during their breaks was rejected last week by the majority of members of the GMB, Unite, and UNISON unions.

A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “Talks with staff are continuing this week in order to achieve a permanent solution as soon as possible.”
