FOOTBALL pundit Andy Gray is consulting lawyers after he was fired in the football sexism row.

The Sky Sports presenter was sacked "in response to new evidence of unacceptable and offensive behaviour" following an "off-air incident that took place in December 2010", the broadcaster said.

Toyota recalls 19,000 cars

CAR manufacturer Toyota is recalling nearly 19,000 cars in the UK due to potential problems with their fuel systems, it was announced today.

The company said hundreds of Toyota Avensis and Lexus IS 250 models could be at risk of fuel leaks and will need to be modified by mechanics.

Britain facing bleak year warns BoE boss King

BANK of England boss Mervyn King warned that grim GDP figures serve as a stark reminder that Britain's recovery will be "choppy" as he braced consumers for a bleak year ahead.

In a speech at Newcastle's Civic Centre last night, the Bank Governor said Britons should expect inflation to rise to between 4 and 5 per cent over the next few months. It concluded a gloomy day in which it was also revealed that the UK economy unexpectedly shrank in the fourth quarter.

World Service jobs cut

THE BBC was expected to announce hundreds of job losses at its World Service today.

About 650 jobs were set to be cut from a workforce of some 2400 in a bid to save 46 million a year.

Union leaders said the "ferocious cuts" would damage British influence abroad and were a "direct result of the Government slashing funding".

Holmes takes on the Doctor

TV heroes Doctor Who and Sherlock Holmes will do battle tonight at the National Television Awards.

The two shows clash in the battle for best drama, while their stars, Matt Smith as the Doctor and Benedict Cumberbatch, pictured, compete for top drama performance.

Derbyshire: Family and friends of a woman whose four children died in a fire at their home have spoken of their shock over the tragedy. The children, all under the age of 10, died after a blaze broke out and engulfed the property near Ashbourne, Derbyshire, while they slept upstairs.

London: A 15-year-old boy was being questioned by police today on suspicion of murdering a teenager who was run over and killed by a bus. Detectives believe Ezekiel Amosu, 17, from Walthamstow may have been trying to escape from a gang who attempted to rob him moments before the collision.
