UK News: Probe continues after airport plane crash

INVESTIGATIONS were continuing today at Birmingham Airport after a private jet carrying a donor liver for transplant crashed.

Two men on board the light aircraft were injured, one critically. The donor organ was transported to a nearby hospital, despite the wreckage of the Cessna catching fire.

Camilla 'could be' Queen

The Prince of Wales has indicated for the first time that the Duchess of Cornwall "could be" Queen if he is crowned King.

Murder hunt begins as kidnap man found dead

A MURDER investigation was under way today after police discovered a kidnapped man dead in a house.

The man, in his 30s, was forcibly removed from his home address in Edgware, north London, at approximately 5pm on Sunday, detectives said.

He was reported missing, but discovered dead at around 1am the following day, in a property in Burton Road, Kilburn, north-west London. Police said he had been beaten prior to his death.

Gazza clinic blasts press

The rehabilitation clinic treating Paul Gascoigne has urged the press to stop "harassing" the troubled former footballer, claiming that media attention is adding to his "current anxieties".

The Providence Projects, which is treating the star for alcoholism and depression, said photographers and reporters have been camped outside its south coast clinic since he entered rehab.

Ronnie dad freed from jail

Snooker star Ronnie O'Sullivan said he was "delighted" to be reunited with his father following his release from prison.

Ronnie O'Sullivan Snr was jailed for life in 1992 for the murder of father-of-two Bruce Bryan. He was freed from prison in Derby yesterday.

Cumbria: The widow of policeman Bill Barker, who died in the Cumbrian floods, is to attend a candlelit vigil with their four children.

The hour-long open-air tribute today will take place near where Pc Barker, 44, was swept to his death after flood waters brought down the Northside bridge as he kept pedestrians and vehicles away.

London: Anti-war protesters were set to gather today to call for the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan.

The demonstration was expected to draw thousands of campaigners, a spokeswoman for the Stop The War Coalition said.
