THE brother of gunman Raoul Moat has said rolling news coverage of his death was like a "public execution" as he criticised officers for twice firing a Taser at him. Angus Moat, 39, said his brother was "no psycho" and may have killed himself in an "involuntary reaction" to being hit with the stun gun.

Increasing energy costs as a result of green policies could hit the UK's manufacturing sector just as the country needs industry to help boost the economy, a think-tank warned today.

A report by Civitas said efforts to tackle climate change through cutting greenhouse gas emissions and increasing renewable energy generation would push up energy bills for businesses, risking the 'migration' of manufacturing plants to cheaper locations abroad.

Cancer survival boosted

People suffering from some cancers are twice as likely to survive as patients diagnosed in the early 1970s, new analysis showed today.

Breast, bowel and ovarian cancer survival rates have shot up, as have those for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

The percentage of women likely to survive breast cancer for at least 10 years has jumped from less than 40% to 77%.
