UK news: Man held in Olympic Park explosives case

A 61-YEAR-OLD man was being questioned today after he was arrested at London's Olympic Park site on suspicion of supplying an explosive substance.

He is the third suspect to be arrested after officers from the Olympic Site Support Unit searched a woman in a car park on Tuesday.

Reward in murder probe

A REWARD of up to 20,000 has been offered for information to catch the killer of an economics graduate who was found dead in woodland in Derbyshire.

In a new study from Demos on the self-esteem of teenage girls, researchers highlighted the importance of the mother-daughter relationship.

The report, out this month, will argue that the government needs to do more to build on this potential.

Julia Margo, deputy director of Demos, said: "The relationship between mother and daughter is crucial."

Knife suspect quizzed

Detectives are questioning a man held on suspicion of attempting to murder a 14-year-old girl who was repeatedly stabbed outside her school.

Police said the 18-year-old, arrested outside Ridgewood High School in Stourbridge, remained in custody in connection with the knife attack on Chloe West, who was stabbed near the gates of the school at 8.42am yesterday.

Radio listeners didn't Ken

Listeners were left baffled by the erratic behaviour of Radio 2 presenter Ken Bruce, until it emerged that the show was being hosted by comedian Rob Brydon.

London: A man will appear in court today charged with two counts of attempted murder following the shooting of five-year-old Thusha Kamaleswaran and a 35-year-old man.

The 19-year-old will appear before Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court charged with shooting the little girl and bystander Roshan Selvakumar at a shop in Stockwell.

Essex: A police investigation was launched after a man's severed arm was found in a lake. Police were called to Buckhurst Hill after a member of the public found the floating limb at 2.50pm on Thursday.
