FORMER home secretary Jack Straw has accused some Pakistani men in Britain of seeing white girls as "easy meat" for sexual abuse.

The Blackburn MP talked of a "specific problem" involving Pakistani men after two Asian men were jailed for raping and sexually assaulting vulnerable girls.

Expenses scandal MP wakes up behind bars

THE first ex-MP to be jailed over the Westminster expenses scandal woke up behind bars today after being sentenced to 18 months for falsely claiming more than 22,000 of taxpayers' money.

Ex-Bury MP David Chaytor admitted fiddling his expenses by forging tenancy documents, and was told by a High Court judge his punishment was needed to help restore public trust in politicians.

But the 61-year-old could be released as soon as the end of May under early release rules.

Eggs cleared off shelves

SUPERMARKETS have removed products from their shelves after it was confirmed that eggs contaminated with dioxins had been used in their cakes and quiches.

The Food Standards Agency said supermarkets had already sold most of the affected food but has advised retailers to clear any remaining affected products. It stressed that consumers do not face any health risks.

Sussex: An oil company has been successful in drilling for oil in an area of ancient woodland. Northern Petroleum said it will carry out further tests in Markwells Wood to determine the site's potential but believes it could yield up to 61 million barrels of oil.
