UK News: Dutchman due in court over Jo Yeates murder

A DUTCH national is due to appear in court charged with murdering landscape architect Jo Yeates.

Engineer Vincent Tabak, 32, who was arrested on Thursday, is due at Bristol Magistrates' Court today.

Miss Yeates, 25, was found dead on Christmas Day, eight days after going missing.

The Metropolitan Police is facing intense pressure to reopen its investigation into illegal phone hacking by journalists amid claims that Gordon Brown may have been among the victims.

Senior politicians from both Government and opposition have demanded that police investigate fully the latest allegations that the mobile phones of prominent public figures had been targeted.

Labour deputy leader Harriet Harman said the law must be enforced.

'Sexist' on-air remarks

Sky Sports football presenters Andy Gray and Richard Keys have been left red-faced after being recorded criticising a female assistant referee and saying they "probably don't know the offside rule".

The apparent blunder is likely to spark accusations of sexism against the broadcasters.

A Sky Sports spokesman said the off-air remarks were "not acceptable".

Birmingham: Two 19-year-old men have been arrested after a man was stabbed in the chest.

West Midlands Police said the 20-year-old victim was found injured near a pub in Erdington High Street on Saturday night.

A spokesman said: "The victim was found by officers near The Acorn public house."
