UK News: Drug addict handed cash for sterilisation

A DRUG addict has become the first man in Britain to take part in a project which saw him get cash to be sterilised.

The 38-year-old - known only as John - was given 200 by Project Prevention in exchange for a vasectomy. He said the cash incentive spurred him into going ahead with the procedure.

Firms and consumers are 'failing on identity fraud'

BRITISH businesses and consumers are not doing enough to stop identity fraud, it was warned today.

Only 7 per cent of people are completely confident the companies they deal with are treating their data responsibly, a survey marking the start of National Identity Fraud Prevention Week (NIDFPW) found. More than nine out of 10 people in the UK think they are at risk from identity fraud but only 44 per cent regularly check bills and financial statements against.

Advice on saving a life

MEMBERS of the public should not give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation unless they are fully trained, according to new guidelines.

Instead, those lacking full skills should give chest compressions only - the best chance of saving a life.

Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) involves chest compressions and "rescue" breaths, with the aim of restarting the heart.

Nottingham: Police appealed for information today after a teenage boy was shot. The 16-year-old was injured in the shooting in the Radford Road area of Nottingham in the early hours of Sunday. He was taken to hospital for treatment and later discharged.
