One of the two brothers convicted over the killing of Damilola Taylor has been returned to jail amid accusations of failings by the probation service.

Ricky Preddie, jailed for eight years in 2006 for manslaughter, was sent back to jail after breaking the conditions of his release.

Family seeks answers over 2004 pub murder

Relatives of a man murdered in an attack in a pub are travelling to Wales today in a new move to find his killer.

Kevin Lavelle, 29, was assaulted in the Cricketers pub in Banbury, Oxfordshire in June 2004. The crane operator, from Bootle, Merseyside, was beaten with an iron bar in a gang attack after an argument with some Welsh railway workers. An inquest in 2009 found that the father-of-two died as a result of the injuries he sustained during the attack.

Food exports hit new high

UK food and drink exports broke through the 10 billion barrier for the first time during 2010.

Exports of food and non-alcoholic drinks increased for the sixth consecutive year to 10.83bn, 11.4 per cent up on 2009's level, according to the Food and Drink Federation.

The increase came despite the economic problems in Ireland, which continued to be the biggest importer.

London: A judge is today expected to give her ruling in the case of a police officer accused of assault on a boy who fell through a shop window.
