UK News: 650 care home OAPs die from dehydration

NEGLECT levels in Britain's care homes were described as "scandalous" today after it emerged that more than 650 elderly residents have died of dehydration in the past five years.

Figures also revealed that 157 vulnerable pensioners died of malnutrition, while nearly 2000 died from C.diff and MRSA.

'Man boob' jobs spark rise in plastic surgery

THERE has been a rise in the number of Britons going under the knife to improve their appearance, figures suggest.

Data from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons shows 38,274 surgical procedures were carried out in 2010, up five per cent on figures for 2009.

One of the biggest rises was for breast reduction in men - to get rid of so-called "man boobs" - with 741 operations in 2010, up 28 per cent on the previous year.

MPs urge money classes

MORE than 100 MPs have joined forces to call for financial education to become compulsory in schools.

Around 120 MPs have formed the All Party Parliamentary Group on Financial Education for Young People to push for children to be given lessons on money, consuming and debt to ensure they are equipped to make financial decisions.

It aims to push financial education up the agenda.

South Yorkshire: Tributes were today being paid to three teenagers killed in an accident which saw their car torn in half when it skidded off the road and hit a tree. Antonia Browne, 14, Michael Gallagher, 16, and Tom Hughes, 15, died when their Honda Civic smashed into a tree near Doncaster yesterday.

Flintshire: Police were today appealing for a motorist who left the scene of a fatal road collision in which a woman died to come forward. The victim, believed to be in her early 30s, was discovered lying on a dual carriageway on the A548 just past the junction for Bagillt yesterday.
