UHI is on course

CONCERN has been raised that backroom functions such as human resources and IT will be duplicated at each individual satellite campus of the University of the Highlands and Islands.

That could be resolved by sharing such services and linking up provision, however, a key aspect of UHI will be ensuring provision of courses across the region.

So if a campus on Skye offers the same course as in Inverness this "duplication" may be a key aim rather than a drawback.

Stirling and Aberdeen University both have health teaching at Inverness which could lead to duplication, but backers hope there will be greater collaboration and depth of study on offer instead.
