Tyson agrees to spar with city boxers

TWO city boxers are to spar with former undisputed world champion Mike Tyson during his forthcoming visit to Edinburgh.

Leith Victoria amateur middleweight boxer John McCallum will join super middleweight contender Kenny Anderson in a public training session with the controversial star at the Sheraton Hotel, in Festival Square, on November 4.

The sparring will take place before a question-and-answer session with fans, announced last week in the Evening News.

McCallum was invited to take part by Anderson's coach Kevin Maree as a reward for helping the contender train for his next fight.

McCallum said he was "over the moon". He added: "I was gobsmacked. Mike Tyson is one of my boxing heroes."

Mr Maree said: "We've decided that the fans will be looking for more than just a passive question-and-answer session with Tyson."
