One of victims was head butted in the face before they were both robbed.

A passer-by intervened and chased the perpetrators away.

Detectives are now urging anyone who witnessed the attack to come forward in particular the passer-by who intervened.

Both suspects are described as white, 18 to 20yrs old and 6ft tall. The first is described as having a slim build with short shaved dark hair and who was wearing a grey tracksuit top and bottoms. The other is described as having an athletic build, short dark blond hair, black hooded top and black tracksuit bottoms.

Detective Constable Alistair Paisley said: “This was an incredibly frightening experience for the two victims and we are keen to speak to anyone who can assist us in identifying the suspects responsible.

“In particular, we are keen to trace the passer-by who intervened in the assault and forced them to run away.

“The incident took place in the middle of the afternoon and there would potentially have been a number of people in the area who may have seen the suspects either before or after the robbery.”
