Two taken to hospital after six hour stand-off in house

TWO people have been hospitalised after armed police and trained negotiators were summoned to a house in Coatbridge.

Strathclyde Police were called to the incident in Cornhill Drive, Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, at around 5.55am this morning.

The situation lasted almost six hours and police now say everyone who was in the property has been removed.

The ambulance service attended and said two people were taken to Monklands Hospital, while another two people refused hospital treatment. The extent of their injuries is not known.

Officers remain at the scene as investigations continue into the incident.
