Two killed in west of Scotland accidents

TWO pedestrians have been knocked down and killed in separate incidents in the west of Scotland.

A 64-year-old woman died at the scene after being struck by a Volvo car in Greystone Avenue, Rutherglen, South Lanarkshire, at about 4.10pm yesterday.

The 46-year-old female driver of the car was uninjured.

A second fatal crash took place in Old Shettleston Road in the Shettleston area of Glasgow at around 4.30pm yesterday.

A 77-year-old man died at the scene after being hit by a silver Kia car when attempting to cross the road.

The 56-year-old man driving the car was uninjured.

Police have appealed for witnesses to either of the accidents to contact them.
