Officers from Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary want to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or anything leading up to the accident, which occurred at around 8am.

Police are particularly keen to speak to the driver of an eastbound articulated lorry, described as a low-loader carrying a blue truck.

It is believed this vehicle had been overtaken by one of the cars involved in the crash.

This year alone there have been three deaths, three serious accidents and 51 other incidents on the A75 in Dumfries and Galloway.
