Two Kamchatka volcanoes erupt

Two volcanoes erupted on Russia's far-eastern Kamchatka Peninsula yesterday, tossing out massive ash clouds, forcing flights to divert and blanketing one town with thick, heavy ash.

The ash clouds, 33,000ft high, were spreading across the Pacific, Russian authorities said.
