Two drivers hurt in crash

TWO men have been taken to hospital after a serious road collision yesterday.

Two vehicles were involved in a crash on the A702 south of Penicuik around 4pm, leaving one man trapped in the wreckage of his car.

One driver escaped his vehicle and was treated by paramedics at the roadside, but fire crews had to use hydraulic cutting gear for around 30 minutes to free the second driver.

A spokeswoman for the fire service said both men were taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. Their condition is not yet known.
