Two die in crash on A947 near Banff

TWO motorists have died following a crash near Banff on the A947.

The collision, which occurred on Friday evening, involved a northbound Peugeot 206 car and a Renault articulated lorry travelling south, which left the road and crashed into trees at the roadside.

The victims were the Peugeot's driver, a 19-year-old woman from the MacDuff area, and the driver of the lorry, a man aged 62 from the Huntly area.

The A947 was closed while accident investigators carried out a detailed examination of the scene and to allow recovery of the lorry.

Police appealed for witnesses.
