Two bodies found in Fife town of Methil

The bodies of a man and a woman have been found at seperate locations in the Fife town of Methil, Police Scotland confirmed today.

The body of a woman was recovered from a beach at Dumbarnie Links, near Upper Largo, after being discovered by a dog walker.

Later on, police divers using kayaks, who had been searching the River Leven since Monday, recovered the the body of a young man.

It is understood it is that of Thomas Brown who was last seen in the Steelworks Brae area of the town last week.

Specialist divers began scouring the River Leven on Monday.

Chief Inspector Graeme Kinmond, local commander for the Levenmouth area, said: “Police officers have been searching for two missing people, one reported to us on Saturday and the other last night.

“Formal identification on both bodies has yet to take place, however I can confirm that we have now stood down the searches.”
