Twelve rescued in sea cave drama

TWELVE people were rescued yesterday after their boat broke down in a sea cave.

They were in Gloup Cave on Stroma island in the Pentland Firth when their rigid-hulled inflatable developed engine problems. Because the swell was so high the ten tourists and two crew clambered on to rocks before raising the alarm.

Thurso RNLI launched a lifeboat and the coastguard at Shetland scrambled a helicopter.
