TV's Jardine is wild about his latest role

HOGMANAY presenter Stephen Jardine is set to become the latest celebrity ambassador for the Scottish Wildlife Trust.

The popular STV face, who presents The Hour, will front the animal conservation charity, joining established ambassadors cyclist Mark Beaumont and John Michie.

Speaking about his new role, Mr Jardine said: "We are all merely temporary custodians of the amazing Scottish countryside, and we can all play a part in protecting our wildlife for the future. If decisive action isn't taken now to care for our natural environment, its biodiversity will continue to diminish and precious parts of our native wildlife could be lost.

"From bringing back the beaver and protecting red squirrels, to watching over osprey and peregrines and maintaining over 120 wildlife reserves across Scotland, this charity makes a real difference."
