Turkey mourns former premier

Turks thronged the streets of Istanbul yesterday to mourn former premier Necmettin Erbakan, founder of its Islamist movement, who died on Sunday.

Prime minister Tayyip Erdogan and President Abdullah Gul led mourners in prayers in front of the coffin, laid out in a courtyard of the 15th century Fatih mosque.
