“Investigations are continuing into the cause of the collision and police are at the scene.”

It’s understood the lorry went into the back of the fish market.

The fish market at Peterhead is Europe’s busiest white fish port with up to 10,000 boxes of freshly landed fish are sold daily

Refridgerated lorries then transport the produce to destinations all over the UK and across Europe.

It’s not yet known whether the lorry driver, who has not been named, was working at the fish market at the time of the collision.

Yesterday Peterhead Port Authority’s senior assistant harbour master, John Foreman, said: “All we can say is that there has been an accident involving a lorry and no other vehicles were involved.

“The lorry has hit the back of the fish market which has now been closed down.

“A police investigation is currently ongoing and the area has been cordoned off.”
