Trouble spot given revamp

RESIDENTS in Leith now have a “brighter and lighter” space to enjoy after Boundary Square was redeveloped.

The four-month project was led by Port of Leith Housing Association, which redeveloped the square off Buchanan Street in conjunction with the city council.

The square had become a hotspot for antisocial behaviour but it was handed back to the community at an event where a time capsule was planted and the final stone laid.

Housing association chief executive Keith Anderson said: “Boundary Square looks fantastic now and is an attractive and usable open space for the community to enjoy, rather than an enclosed area for them to be wary of.”

Work included flattening the level of the square and cutting back hedges and trees.
