Their positions have been taken over by The Highlanders 4th Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland (4 SCOTS).

All members of the battalion have now returned to their Penicuik-based Glencorse Barracks and are preparing for a homecoming parade.

No fusiliers were killed during their six-month tour.

Earlier this month, members of a platoon in the battalion spoke of their narrow escape after they were caught in a firefight in an ambush.
