Troop stress funds raised

A MILITARY club founded as a war memorial has raised £4000 for armed forces personnel suffering psychological traumas from active service.

The Royal Scots Club in Abercromby Place hosted a black tie dinner in aid of Combat Stress' Scottish treatment centre at Hollybush House in Ayr.

The charity's Scottish chairman, military historian Trevor Royle, told the packed audience that psychological scars suffered by thousands of members of the armed forces in conflicts such as Afghanistan could take more than 25 years to develop.
