Tributes paid to youth killed in rural road crash

TRIBUTES were paid yesterday to a teenage driver who has died following a car crash in Angus.

Philip McDougall, 19, of Bank Street, Arbroath, was fatally injured in the smash on Tuesday on the unclassified Arbroath to Lunan road at Kinaldie, on the outskirts of Arbroath.

Mr McDougall was airlifted to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee after his Volkswagen Golf overturned on the rural road, but he died that night. The 27-year-old passenger in the car, who is also from Arbroath, was yesterday said to be in a "stable" condition at Ninewells with non-life threatening injuries.

Tributes have been paid to Mr McDougall on his webpage on the social networking site Bebo. One friend wrote: "I can't sleep thinking about all the good times we had - you were one in a million babe."

Police have appealed for witnesses to the fatal incident, in which no other car was involved.
