Tributes paid to university tutor killed in road smash

TRIBUTES have been paid to a university tutor who was killed when his car was in collision with a lorry on an Aberdeenshire road.

The victim of Friday's fatal crash on the A92 Stonehaven to Montrose road was yesterday named by Grampian Police as Ronald Wilson, 56, of Gourdon.

Mr Wilson and his wife Lorna had recently moved to the area on their return home to Scotland after working abroad for an oil service company.

His family said: "Ron and Lorna Wilson moved to Gourdon two and a half years ago after returning from Azerbaijan, where Ron worked for KCA Deutag. Most recently he worked as a tutor for Robert Gordon University. Ron and Lorna married in 2006 and spent most of their time travelling abroad.

"Ron became a fantastic stepfather to Blair, whom he had known all of his life as a family friend. Ron was loved by everyone who knew him, friends, colleagues and family.

"His father-in-law stated that Ron was the best friend he would ever have. He will be sadly missed by many people."

Mr Wilson died on Friday morning when his 4x4 car was in collision with a lorry on the coastal road at Roadside of Catterline.

Part of the road, stretching for several miles from Stonehaven to Inverbervie, was closed for several hours while collision investigators worked.
