Tribute to 'gentle giant' killed on road

THE family of a pedestrian who died after being hit by a car on Christmas Eve paid tribute yesterday to a "gentle giant" whose death had devastated them.

Jerzy Dudek was killed on the A921 between Burntisland and Kinghorn in Fife. The 43-year-old was originally from Poland, but moved to Scotland five years ago with his wife, Malgorzata, and their two children.

In a statement released through police, the family said: "We are devastated with his tragic and sudden death. He was a gentle giant who quickly relaxed people in his presence, allowing everyone to feel welcome and happy in his company."

Mr Dudek worked as a scaffolder in Burntisland.
