Young driver and passenger killed in Borders crash
A 24-year-old driver and his 23-year-old passenger were killed when their Toyota Corolla car collided with a lorry on the A6105 just west of the town around 3:40pm yesterday, Police Scotland announced today.

Hide AdThe road to Greenlaw was closed for some eight hours while officers carried out a road collision investigation.
Sergeant Brian Jones said: “Sadly, both the driver and passenger of the silver Toyota Corolla lost their life, and we are appealing for any witnesses to this collision, or anyone who was on the A6105 west of Duns at that time, to contact police on 101.
“I would also like to urge motorists to take extra care during the winter months and drive according to prevailing road and weather conditions.”
The deaths came two days after two teenage friends were killed near Langbank in Renfrewshire as they drove home from college.
Adam Crawford and Liam Whiteford, both from Paisley, died at the scene in Old Greenock Road, at around 3:45pm on Thursday.
Mr Crawford, 19, was driving two friends home from their painting and decorating course at James Watt College in Greenock when the Seat Ibiza hit a tree.
Mr Whiteford, 18, was the front seat passenger. Another 18-year-old, who in the back of the car, was treated in hospital for minor injuries.
Around 9pm last Saturday, William Sangster, 19, was killed when the Ford Fiesta in which he was a passenger hit a tree near Mintlaw in Aberdeenshire.

Hide AdThe 17-year-old driver, and an 18-year-old man and two 17-year-old girls who were also in the car, were treated in hospital.
