The main Arran service, the Barra and Eriskay, the Lewis Freight, the South Uist, the Kilcreggan and Roseneath services have all been cancelled for the remainder of today due to the forecast of severe weather and sea state.

The news comes as a yellow weather warning of snow and ice from the Met Office remains in force throughout today across Scotland.

The yellow warning covers Central, Tayside and Fife, Grampian, the southern Highlands, south west Scotland, Lothian, the Borders and the Strathclyde area.

An alternative service is available for the South Uist service via the Lochmaddy-Uig service and Caledonian MacBrayne has said it is hoped that its services to Arran will resume at 7.00 am tomorrow, Wednesday February 3, weather permitting.

The Barra and Eriskay service is cancelled due to the weather forecast and winds in excess of 46mph.

The Lewis Freight has also cancelled its 3am service tomorrow from Ullapool to Stornoway following continued predicted poor weather.

Other ferry services such as the Barra, Harris, Iona, Islay, Lewis and North Uist, Coll and Tiree, Colonsay, Cowal and Dunoon services have been issued an amber warning meaning one or more services has been disrupted by the weather.

A yellow warning – which warns travellers of potential disruptions – has been issued for all other services apart from the Mull and Raasay services which are running as normal.

Passengers are reminded that they should be using CalMac services for essential travel only.
