Upgrade for speed cameras

DOZENS of speed cameras across the Lothians are to be upgraded as part of a £2.4 million national scheme.

Transport Scotland said digital cameras would be installed, which will allow offences to be processed faster and offer clearer images of vehicles.

There are currently 63 speed cameras in the Lothian and Borders Police force area.

A spokeswoman for Transport Scotland said: “Road safety is a priority for this government and we are making good progress towards meeting ambitious targets.”
