Two teenagers have died in a car crash near Inverness.

A 16-year-old girl died at the scene and a 18-year-old man sustained fatal injuries and died in hospital.

They were both passengers in a black Vauxhall Corsa which was involved in a crash with a white Mercedes C Class car near Culloden Moor on Thursday.

The accident happened on the B9006 Croy to Inverness Road at Sunnyside at 6.50pm.

The 19-year-old male driver of the Corsa and a 16-year-old female passenger are being treated at Raigmore Hospital for serious injuries.

The driver and passenger of the Mercedes were taken to the same hospital for treatment and later discharged with no serious injuries.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “The road was closed for some time to allow collision investigation work to be carried out. The road has since re-opened.

“Investigations into the incident are ongoing and officers appeal to anyone who was travelling on the B9006 before or at the time of the collision and who may have seen either vehicle, to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
