Two people taken to hospital following two-vehicle crash near Inverness

Two people have been taken to hospital following a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A96 near Inverness this afternoon.

The incident happened at around 2.45pm today between Raigmore and Nairn, at the A96 near to the junction with the B9039.

Two people involved in the crash have been taken to hospital, according to the Police

Their current condition is not yet known.

The Scottish Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.

There was a build up of heavy traffic in the area with the road partially blocked in both directions following the collision.

However, all lanes are now running.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers were called to the report of a two vehicle road traffic crash on the A96 near to the junction with the B9039 around 2.45pm on Wednesday, 31 March.

"Two people have been taken to hospital. The vehicles have been recovered and the road fully reopened around 4.35pm."

Traffic Scotland has urged motorists to drive safe and take care.
