Two killed in separate incidents on Scotland’s roads

A PEDESTRIAN and a motorcyclist have been killed in two separate incidents on Scotland’s roads.

An elderly woman was hit by a dark-coloured Vauxhall Vectra car in Benhar Road in Shotts, North Lanarkshire at around 4.20am.

She died at the scene, while the 46-year-old driver was uninjured.

Strathclyde Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident and said it is sending a report to the procurator fiscal.

The woman’s age is not known but police said she was elderly.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist died yesterday in a collision with another biker, Central Scotland Police said.

The accident happened when a west-bound white Citroen minibus crossed the carriageway into a layby on the east-bound side of the road.

Two eastbound motorcyclists, one on a Yamaha and one on a Honda, collided and the Honda rider Brian Allan, 62, died at the scene.

Police are appealing for information about the incident which happened at around 4pm on the A904 near Linlithgow.

Officers closed the road for about four hours for investigations to be carried out.
