The incident happened at the slip road overlooking the southbound carriageway at junction two at Bargeddie, at around 8.10pm on Saturday.

The teenagers threw bricks and glass bottles at cars coming off the slip road on the Bargeddie side of the motorway.

The suspects are all male and thought to be aged between 14 and 17. One was wearing a dark top with a yellow hood and another has red hair and was wearing jogging bottoms.

The third suspect was wearing a white top with a large logo on the chest and the fourth was wearing a top and jogging bottoms, which were both grey.

Detective Sergeant Alan MacDonald said: “This type of behaviour is extremely dangerous and could have resulted in a fatality due to the mindless action of those responsible.
