Travellers held up by Glasgow Airport fire

PASSENGERS were evacuated from Glasgow Airport last night after a small fire in the main terminal building.

Strathclyde Fire and Rescue used thermal imaging cameras and cutting tools to locate the fire within a wall space of the concourse after the alarm was raised at about 7pm. Members of the public were helped away from the area and the flames were put out. No flights were disrupted, but some passengers were held up for about an hour.

Group Commander Stuart Mclean said: “An incident with the potential to cause significant disruption has been dealt with quickly and effectively.”
