Tourist hit by Edinburgh bus dies in hospital

A SPANISH tourist who was knocked down by a bus in Edinburgh city centre last week has died in hospital.

Angela Clemente, 66, from Madrid, Spain, suffered serious head injuries after she was hit by an X44 First bus as she crossed Princes Street near Waverley Station at about 9am on 8 July.

She was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh before being transferred to the Western General hospital but died last night.

Roads in the area were closed for about four hours and trams were suspended while police carried out investigations.
